Last week, Our NGO participated in a project based in Corato, Italy, it was held by the Club for Youth Empowerment 018 (KOM 018), Serbia in cooperation with Beyond Borders – Italy. The training was a great success, with participants gaining valuable insights and skills to develop effective campaign strategies. Here’s a recap of the event:
The first day started with ice-breaking activities through which we got to know each other’s backgrounds, personality traits, and habits.
Later on, we displayed our expectations and fears regarding the training. They ranged from building new skills, networking, fear of being discriminated, etc.
Speaking of which, we continued on the same path to set up rules that later should be respected during the training.
For more enthusiasm, we organized a small game called “secret friend”. Each other participant had a random name given to them, on a condition to treat them well for the entire 6 days we proceeded with the training.
Moving on, the afternoon was a very pleasant one. We have undergone an activity in which we could date a person for a few minutes, as we discussed topics chosen by the moderators.
The next day, we had a workshop that began with an introduction from our moderator, who emphasized the importance of addressing the problems faced by minority communities. This was followed by a series of panel discussions and interactive sessions focused on different aspects of the issue.
Some of the topics covered included:
- Discrimination and bias in healthcare
- Access to education and employment opportunities
- Legal and policy frameworks for protecting minority right
- Media representation of minority communities
Throughout the workshop, participants of each country engaged in lively discussions, shared their experiences and perspectives, and identified potential solutions to the problems faced by minority communities.
Later on, the hosting team presented a play to raise awareness and understanding of the differences between stereotypes, discrimination, prejudice, and intolerance.
The play was a powerful and thought-provoking production that engaged and inspired audiences.
Each scene focused on a different aspect of the issue, and the characters represented diverse perspectives and backgrounds.
Finally, the audience was encouraged to reflect on their own biases and prejudices and to consider the impact of their actions on others.
By the end of the day, there was a workshop related to the concept of cultural identity, including its definition and importance in promoting understanding and acceptance of diversity. This was followed by a series of interactive sessions focused on different aspects of cultural identity.
It mainly focused on :
- The role of cultural identity in shaping personal and group identities
- Understanding the cultural roots of different traditions and practices
- The impact of cultural identity on communication and interactions with others
- Strategies for promoting cultural awareness and appreciation in diverse communities
On the third day, The participants got the opportunity to have a discussion focused on addressing the challenges faced by ethnic minorities, other religions, and women in our society. The discussion brought together a diverse group of participants who shared their experiences, perspectives, and potential solutions to these issues. This was followed by a series of sessions that focused on different aspects of these challenges.
Afterward, the workshop began with an introduction to AIDA, a classic marketing model that stands for Attention, Interest, Desire, and Action. The facilitator explained how this model can be used to create effective marketing messages and campaigns that can engage potential audiences and lead them toward a desired action.
After the AIDA session, the facilitator introduced the participants to SWOT analysis, a framework for evaluating the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats of a business or project. The facilitator explained how this tool can help businesses identify their competitive advantages and potential areas for improvement.
Throughout the workshop, participants engaged in hands-on activities and group discussions to apply the AIDA and SWOT concepts to real-world marketing scenarios.
During the last day, the main activity was developing effective campaign strategies. The workshop began with an introduction to the basic principles of campaign strategy, including setting clear goals, identifying target audiences, and developing key messages. The hosting team then introduced the participants to the following key steps in building an effective campaign strategy:
- Conducting research: The facilitator emphasized the importance of conducting research to gain a better understanding of the target audience, the issues at stake, and the competitive landscape.
- Developing a message: Participants learned how to develop a clear and compelling message that resonates with the target audience and motivates them to take action.
- Crafting a plan: Participants learned how to develop a comprehensive plan that outlines the tactics, budget, and timeline for the campaign.
- Implementing and evaluating: Finally, participants learned how to implement the campaign plan and evaluate its effectiveness through metrics such as reach, engagement, and conversion rates.
Overall, the workshop on campaign strategy was a valuable opportunity for nonprofit organizers to gain new skills and insights to improve their campaigns. We plan to continue organizing similar events in the future to promote greater understanding and collaboration among different campaign sectors.
In addition, we strongly recommend that participants follow up with local workshops and training sessions to further develop and refine their campaign strategies. These workshops can provide valuable opportunities for networking, exchanging ideas, and learning from local experts and successful campaign managers. Together, let’s build more effective campaigns that make a positive impact on our communities!
And finally, A cultural night event kicked off with a warm goodbye from the organizers and a brief introduction to the purpose of the event. Participants were encouraged to explore the different cultural booths and interact with the presenters to learn more about their traditions and customs.
The event featured a diverse array of cultural booths, each showcasing unique aspects of its heritage. Participants had the opportunity to try different types of food, watch traditional dances, listen to live music and view art exhibits. The presenters also shared stories and explanations about the significance of their cultural practices and artifacts.
In conclusion, workshops and events that focus on cultural diversity and inclusion are crucial for creating a more harmonious and accepting society. By educating individuals about the unique experiences and perspectives of different cultures, we can work towards breaking down barriers and promoting greater understanding and respect.
